The 9th of March, the Rotterdam based Latin-Band Las Hienas organizes a Fem- Café and a concert to celebrate the International Women’s Day.

Fem-Café
All women (+ their children) and queer people of Rotterdam are welcome to join the Fem-Café. Expect a welcoming atmosphere with food, drinks and space for conversations to celebrate being a women*, empower yourself and share experiences. The idea is to create a space where women* from Rotterdam (and especially from Delfshaven) can connect, talk about personal experiences, inform themselves about feminist subjects and get the chance to be part of a unique performance at night. For that purpose, we will offer childcare during the Fem-Café, give the possibility to read more about feminist subjects and prepare a song with the participants we will perform together in the concert later at night.

At 20.00h New Grounds will convert into a concert hall where Nadine and Las Hienas will perform from 20.30h till 22.30h with joyful music. For that all people are welcome to join and dance!

The band Las Hienas is formed by eight women from five different countries. Based in Rotterdam, they started the project in January 2023 to create a countermovement within the music scene, to represent music written by women on stage and face the discrimination against women and LGBTQIA+ people.

Their repertoire serves a wide spectrum from Afro Cuban music, modern salsa, music from the Andes, traditional rhythms from the Caribbean and influences from jazz and flamenco. With their energetic and pulsatile show, filled by lively and groovy tunes, they encourage their whole audience to move their hips. The Band’s cheerful vibe brings a smile to every listener’s face.
